A few years ago, producing Degrees, a podcast about climate-saving careers for the Environmental Defense Fund, I met photographer Pete Muller. He’d produced a remarkable National Geographic photo essay chronicling something I’d never heard of: solastalgia, the feeling of being homesick for a place that you haven’t actually left.
