Hi storytellers –
When my son was a teenager, I needed to drive him across Denver during rush-hour traffic to get to school. He was constantly urging me to drive faster, especially as we approached a yellow light. My two stock answers were:
1) “Sorry, I’m carrying precious cargo.” Meaning him, no matter how obnoxious he was being, of course.
2) “It’ll take longer to get there if we get stopped for speeding or get in an accident.”
For most parents, choosing safety over aggressive speed is a no-brainer. But as a creator, I often castigate myself for not working faster and being more efficient.
