Hi Storytellers —

A great deal of what I do here is to dissect how great storytellers do what they do, so we can use their techniques.

But lately I’m thinking about how we choose which stories to tell (or perhaps more accurately, which creative quests we dare to take) in the first place. You’ll hear more about this question in coming issues.

This idea generating and sorting process is personal, because I’m freeing up time to pursue new stories of my own.

With this question front and center, I stumbled upon an article by Brian G. Peters about Pixar’s storytelling philosophy. The following stood out:
